Laser Hair Removal Victoria BC

Permanent Hair Reduction Without the Pain, Mess, or Hassle

Laser Hair Removal, Victoria, B.C.

Laser hair removal is by far the fastest and most cost-effective hair removal method available today. Over a lifetime, most women will spend around 60–70 days shaving their legs and more than $12,000 on razors and shaving supplies — or over $30,000 on waxing appointments. Men, on average, will spend about 45 days of their lives shaving their face and neck.

At Vitality Laser Clinic in Victoria BC, we offer a cleaner, faster, and much more comfortable alternative. No uncomfortable and drying blasts of cold air, no sticky cold gels with wipe-downs afterward — just real results with no mess or hassle. Plus, appointments are private, one-on-one, and unrushed, with free parking and an easy-to-access location outside of downtown Victoria.

Why Laser Hair Removal Feels Different at Vitality

This advanced technology allows us to safely and effectively treat all skin tones and hair types — while making treatments significantly more comfortable. The cryogen cooling spray is delivered a split second before the laser heat pulse even hits, so your brain focuses on the cold sensation instead of the heat. The Hair Growth Cycle

Stage 1 - Anagen Phase

During the anagen phase your hair follicles are actively growing hair. This is the longest phase of hair growth. The majority of hair is in the anagen phase at any given time. The length of the anagen phase differs with different types of hair. The anagen phase for facial and pubic hairs is much shorter than hair on your scalp.

Stage 2 - Catagen Phase

In the catagen phase the hair follicles shrink and the rate at which the hair grows is much slower. Eventually the hair starts to separate from the hair follicle, but it’s still attached.

Stage 3 - Telogen Phase

Hair does not grow during the telogen phase. Some may fall out but usually they are still attached.

Stage 4 - Exogen Phase

The exogen phase is an extension of both the telogen stage of hair growth. During the exogen phase, the hair falls out. During this time the hair follicle may rest a while before growing new hair, or it may immediately start forming a new hair and go right back into the anagen phase.

How Laser Hair Removal Actually Works

At Vitality Laser Clinic, we believe in educating our clients before they invest in any treatment.
It’s your right to know exactly what you’re signing up for and what’s happening to your body. We believe in informed consent — and it’s one of the reasons why we insist on consultations before starting laser hair removal or any treatment. During your consultation, we go over everything in detail so you can make a confident, informed decision without any pressure.

When it comes to laser hair removal, it helps to understand how the process actually works. Laser hair removal targets the pigment (melanin) in your hair by sending concentrated light energy in to the hair and follicle. When absorbed the light converts to heat energy, which damages the follicle enough to slow or prevent future hair growth — without harming the surrounding skin.

However, not all your hairs are growing at the same time. Hair grows in four stages: anagen (growth), catagen (transition), telogen (resting), and exogen (shedding). It takes 1-2 months to go through all 4 stages of growth. Laser hair removal only affects hairs that are in the anagen phase — the stage where the hair is actively growing and still attached to the blood supply inside the follicle. That’s why treatments are spaced 4-8 weeks apart — to catch each new batch of growing hairs when they’re most vulnerable.

Most clients need about 6–8 sessions for full results, depending on a combination of factors like skin tone, hair color, hair density, hormones, genetics, the area being treated, and how closely they stick to the recommended schedule. Sun exposure, self-tanning, missing appointments, and hormonal shifts can all impact the number of sessions needed. We’ll walk you through exactly what to expect and give you a couple test pulses during your consultation so you can see how it feels and so there are no surprises.

Our advanced dual-platform Alexandrite/Nd:YAG laser technology is also highly effective at treating finer, lighter, and stubborn hairs — giving you better outcomes across a wider range of hair types compared to older or single-wavelength systems.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Hair Removal

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Thanks to our cryogen cooling system, most clients find treatments somewhere between very comfortable and totally painless! At worst, it feels more like a quick snap or slight warmth, but many report only feeling the cooling spray of the cryogen. Either way, it’s far less painful than waxing or older laser systems.

How many sessions will I need?

On average, most clients need 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart, depending on the area, hair thickness, skin tone, and hormonal factors.

Can you treat darker skin tones safely?

Yes. Our dual-platform Alexandrite/Nd:Yag system is fully adjustable for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI) to safely and effectively treat all skin tones. We use the Nd:Yag for darker skin types.

What about hormonal hair growth?

Hormonal changes like menopause, PCOS, or pregnancy can trigger new hair growth over time. Laser hair removal can dramatically reduce hormonal hair, but occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended.

What if I’ve had laser elsewhere and it didn’t work?

Many clients come to us after less-than-satisfying experiences elsewhere. Our cryogen-cooled technology and customized approach lead to better comfort and better long-term results.

Is laser hair removal truly permanent?

Laser hair removal is best described as permanent hair reduction.
Most clients enjoy an 80–90% permanent reduction in hair. Some maintenance treatments may be needed over time, especially for hormonal areas. Again this has to do with genetics, hormones and the amount of melanin available in the hair to be absorbed by the laser.

Which areas respond best to laser hair removal?

Areas with thicker, coarser hair — like the Brazilian, underarms, and lower legs — usually show the fastest and most noticeable results. Finer hair (like arms, face, or stomach) can take a few extra sessions to fully respond, depending on the hair density and colour. Fine hair is where the Alexandrite laser really shines!

Will I need touch-up appointments?

Not always. Sometimes, a touch-up session may be needed every year or two, but others might not need a touch-up for five or even ten years. Your need for touch ups depends on your body and your hormonal fluctuations.
